New Roofs & Re-Roofing in Sidcup & Kent
When a roof has reached the end of its life, patching it becomes false economy. R&W Roofing Services strip, re-batten and re-cover tiled roofs across Sidcup and Kent using quality materials from Marley and Redland, fitted with the details that make a roof last: breathable membranes, proper ventilation and dry-fix ridge and hip systems.
A new roof, built properly from the timbers up
Every re-roof starts with a full strip back to the rafters. That lets us check the timbers, replace anything that has rotted and lay a breathable felt membrane and new treated battens before a single tile goes on. It is the part of the job nobody sees, and it is the part that decides whether your roof lasts ten years or fifty.
We fit over-fascia vents and eaves support trays so the roof breathes and the felt never sags into the gutter, and we use dry ridge, hip and valley systems wherever appropriate. Unlike mortar, dry-fix systems do not crack, fall out or need re-pointing.
Tiles we work with
Our recent re-roofs in Sidcup have used smooth grey Marley Ludlow Plus, red Marley interlocking tiles and grey Redland 49 tiles, and we have re-covered a conservatory in Marley Eternit slate. We will recommend a tile that suits the pitch of your roof, the style of the property and your budget, and we are happy to talk through the options at the quote stage.
Conservatory roof conversions
A tired polycarbonate conservatory roof can be replaced with a proper battened and slated roof. We recently converted a Sidcup conservatory from plastic sheets to Marley Eternit slate, turning it into a room that is usable all year and looks like part of the house.
Common problems
Problems our new roofs & re-roofs service solves
-
Repeated leaks in different places
When repairs keep chasing new leaks, the covering as a whole has usually failed.
-
Brittle, delaminating or porous tiles
Old concrete and clay tiles absorb water, crack in frost and shed their surface.
-
Perished roofing felt
Bitumen felt that has torn or rotted at the eaves lets wind-driven rain past the tiles.
-
Sagging roof line
Can indicate rotten battens or rafters that need replacing before re-covering.
-
Poor-quality previous work
We replaced an Abbey Wood roof that was less than five years old because it had been so badly installed.
-
Buying or extending a property
A new roof protects the investment and is often cheaper than years of piecemeal repairs.
